Ontario Hardwood Products Ltd. is a Canadian hardwood lumber company established in 1945. For three generations, OHP has supplied quality kiln-dried lumber to markets around the world.
OHP is located in Toronto, Ontario with a plant 20 minutes from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, in Bolton, ON. Green lumber is sustainably sourced from Canadian and North-Eastern United States forests, kiln-dried at our facility, and shipped abroad:
Shipments of mixed species and thicknesses between 4/4” and 16/4”.

Our Process
Green Lumber
The process begins with green lumber sourced from Canadian and American forests. Green lumber is shipped by truck and unloaded at the Bolton yard.
Air Drying
Green lumber must be air dried to drive off moisture and prevent discoloration. Depending on the thickness of the material, lumber may have to air dry between one and twelve months.
Kiln Drying
Once green lumber has air dried for the appropriate amount of time it is kiln dried. Our kiln-drying process consists of the following:
Quality inspection of lumber.
Use of Breeze sticks to prevent discoloration.
Dried in one of five temperature and humidity controlled kilns.
Grading
Once lumber has kiln-dried it is inspected for defects and graded according to the NHLA Grading Rules. It is then sorted by lengths and widths, packaged, and entered into inventory.
Export
Once an order has been arranged, employees at the Toronto office and Bolton yard collaborate on the best method for shipment taking into account:
Customer specifications.
PHYTO sanitary regulations.
Shipping logistics.
History of OHP
1944: Site of the current Toronto office building with the old Toronto warehouse on the far right.
1945: Original office of Ontario Hardwood Products Ltd. The office moved to 188 Perth St. in 1986.
1980: Construction of the Bolton facility began in the Winter of 1980.
1985: Shipping OHP lumber from the Toronto Yard by truck.
1985: Break-bulk shipping of hardwood from the Toronto Cherry St. port to Antwerp, Belgium.
1990: Arial photograph of the Bolton facility. This area has expanded much since its original construction.
1999: Grading of hardwood lumber.
1999: Sorting and packaging of graded hardwood lumber. This grading chain has since been expanded for increased production.
2001: Loading of a container for international shipment. Ontario Hardwood has since switched to using green for it's logo and end-paint.
2020: Loading OHP lumber into a container for international shipment.
